Season 4, Episode 8, “Time Stands Still Part 2”

Previously on Degrassi, Joey is revealed to not only be losing his home, but his business is also failing big time because he’s a broke dick loser. The only good thing is that Caitlin has returned from her triumphant Aids world tour. But seriously who cares about him and his problems. Rick is the star of this two parter and his bullying has now reached a boiling point as Spinner, Jay and Alex dumped a bunch of paint over him and then they feathered him in front of a city wide TV audience. We finished the previous episode with him looking at his father’s hand gun. And now the shocking conclusion to this two parter.

Pre-Credit Opener: This episode finds us with Rick still staring at the 45 in his dad’s study. We cut to the school where Emma and Toby are talking about what happened. He says that they can just edit Rick being humiliated out of the show but Emma doesn’t think they can. JT meanwhile is laughing his ass off over the incident because everyone there hates Rick. Toby being a little toad just says that he wouldn’t think it was so funny if it had happened to him. Johnny Mathis being an asshole said he would laugh still. He then spots Rick and he’s come back to school still in his dad’s suit covered in paint and feathers. But he’s walking around like a zombie holding his back pack tight to his chest. You know he has it bad when even the extras hanging out in front of the school are making fun of him. Toby says that someone should talk to him, but Emma doesn’t want anything to do with him because she told him in the previous episode that she just pitied him and isn’t remotely interested in him romantically. Toby tries to talk to him saying that Raditch is beyond pissed off and that he’s going to punish who did it. Rick full of despair just says that they’ll only get a detention. Toby tells him that people will understand if he takes the rest of the day off, but Rick all ominous simply says that that’s one day that he actually wants to be there at school. The statement is accentuated by the tension in the music.

In the next scene we see Raditch berating the entire school over what just happened. In class Alex and Jay are trying their hardest not to bust out laughing. In Mrs Kwan’s class JT is still making fun of Toby’s loser friend Rick and says that he hopes that he’s finally gotten the hint and leaves the school. Man, it’s so obvious that JT is much cooler than Toby when he says that he’ll have to find a new gamer geek friend to look at porn together.

At the basketball court Spinner is laughing at how they got Rick back because he has a total lack of empathy. Jimmy sounding annoyed tells him to cut the guy some slack because he’s actually alright. But Spinner is still having delight over how Rick was embarrassed in front of the entire school. Jimmy asks what kind of person does that kind of shit and Spinner being an idiot admits that it was him and then starts to threaten Jimmy, but he can’t finish his thought because Jimmy get’s into his face and asks him what he’s going to do about it. Spinner intimidated starts to back away and Jimmy tells him to save the bully crap for someone who won’t fight back. To accentuate his point he shoves the ball into Spinner’s gut, taking the wind out of it. Spinner then hits him with the ball right in the face and that’s when Jimmy man handles him and shoves him against the fence. The fight is short lived because Coach Armstrong comes along and breaks it up. I swear, this show always has a fight that lasts about five seconds or less.

Oh God, we go back to Joey’s and Caitlin is asking him why he’s selling his house. Joey tells her, “I’m broke bitch!” He goes on to explain that it’s either his house or the dealership that goes, but that makes zero sense because the dealership is also folding because he just sells cheap used cars to clueless foreigners.

Mercifully we go back to Degrassi where everyone in the cafeteria is dying from laughter at the sight of Rick just standing there looking like a lunatic. Paige comes up to him and surprises everyone by actually not being her usual cunty self and tells him that she’s sorry about what happened to him and the people who did it suck ass. Her being decent seems to have saved her life because it’s obvious that Rick was there to fucking kill her, but he seems to have had a change of heart and tells her that he’s sorry for what he did to Terri. Finally he goes to his locker and puts the backpack in there and his father’s paint covered coat.

Next we have an awkward scene between Caitlin and Sidney. Caitlin tells her that she just got back that morning and she saw Joey’s house for sale with her name on the sign. Sidney tells her to cool her tits and she’s just doing it as a favor to Joey. Caitlin then asks her how much she wants for the joint and Sidney says, about $400,000. Caitlin knowing that the place isn’t worth that much offers $350.000. That or she’s just a bitch and wants to stick it to Sidney. Sidney tells her no way and Caitlin being cheap offers $375.000. Sidney’s all, “You’ve got yourself a goddamn deal!” and they shake on it.

Rick is in the rest room where he’s washed all that shit off of his face, you can tell that he’s still dealing with trying to get over that humiliating experience. But he can’t dwell on it because he hears some people coming and he goes and hides in the stall. Turns out it’s Spinner and Jay talking about whether Raditch knows or not. Right away Jay see’s that Rick is in there due to all the paint and feathers all over the floor. Knowing that he’s in there Jay starts to say that Jimmy was involved and set everything up perfectly. Spinner then says that it was great how he got him to be in the final round for his plan to work out. They walk out with Jay saying it was great having a man on the inside. Rick comes out of the stall fuming because to him Jimmy did the ultimate betrayal.

So oh shit. The tension filled music is back and so is his backpack against his chest. Rick walks up to Jimmy at his locker where Jimmy asks him how he is. He goes on to say how sorry he is about everything and that if Spinner and Jay give him more grief, he’s got his back. Rick not able to control his anger anymore says, “Like you stabbed me in the back.” Jimmy doesn’t know what he’s talking about and says, “Say what?” As he’s saying that he defended him, Rick pulls out his dad’s piece and points it at his chest saying that he only pretended to be his friend. Jimmy starts to back up a bit and it’s obvious that Rick is about to dispense his own brand of justice because he says like a psycho, “You made me do this.” Jimmy starts to run away but he doesn’t get far. Rick somehow managed to hit him in his back even though he had his eyes closed the whole time.

Degrassi trying to be dramatic as hell has cut all sound as everyone around there runs for their motherfucking lives. Craig rounds the corner and finds Jimmy’s limp body just lying there. It sounds like Craig wants to cry, whispering Jimmy’s name in disbelief

In another hallway kids are still running away from Rick’s deranged ass. Sean, Emma and Toby though act like people who have no logic and go to investigate what that loud bang was instead of running in the opposite direction like everyone else. They go around the corner and there’s Rick still holding on to his dad’s 45. It’s pretty damn clear that he’s now gone completely insane and he tells Emma that he’s sorry that he kissed her. Sean stating the obvious says that he has a gun and they should go. Rick in a rage yells at them to not turn away from him. That sure stopped them in their tracks. He continues to talk like a fucking nutcase and says that he’s glad that he found Emma because she made his list. Toby tries to talk to him but Rick just ignores him like everyone else. He starts to go off about his delusions again saying that Emma was shamelessly flirting with him and that he thought that she liked him. Sean now trying to reason with him tells him to put the gun down and that he knows what it’s like to be in his position since he hit a kid so goddamn hard he made him go deaf. He goes on to say that it can be so much worse, and pleads with him again to put the gun down. It looks like he’s getting through to him, but Rick has now gone to eleven and says that it’s too late because he already shot someone. As he says that he points the gun at Emma who’s now crying from fear. She doesn’t become his next victim though because Sean grabs the gun and they have a fight for it. All of a sudden the gun goes off and both Rick and Sean make shocked faces and fall to the ground.

In the next scene all of the cops are there at Degrassi sealing the school off from the outside world. Ashley’s mom comes running up to a Mountie and tells him that she got a call from them about Toby. For some reason they let her in and as she’s about to go up the steps she see’s Jimmy being wheeled out on a stretcher.

I love how the writers of the show are tormenting us by going back to Joey in the next scene. I remembered when this episode first aired I said to myself, who gives a shit about Joey’s B plot. He comes up to her and he’s all happy that he got a buyer for the house. But he’s just pretending, he knows that it was Caitlin that bought the house and he’s all pissed off because she just made him feel like an even bigger bald loser. He should be grateful that he has a woman that would do that for him. Thankfully they get a call about the shooting at Degrassi and off they go.

Back at Degrassi it seems like the Mounties have deployed their anti terrorist task force. We see all sorts of cops in body armor and sub machine guns. Right away we see that Sean is fine except for a minor wound on his arm. Hey look who it is! It’s Sam, Busy’s dad from Ready or Not as the lead detective. He starts to ask Toby why his friend would do such a thing and if he was teased. Toby all full of tears tells him that Rick was tormented everyday. Detective Sam then asks him if he noticed any warning signs about his friend. Acting like a little bitch he starts to cry and says that Rick wasn’t his friend and he was a psycho. Sean just seems to be in shock answering the other detective’s questions. That’s a real man there!

In what I’m guessing is the MI lab Snake is telling Emma that Rick needed help. Yeah, thank you captain fucking obvious. Emma traumatized tells Spike that he pointed the gun right at her. Raditch comes in and asks Snake if he can get into Rick’s emails, as they’re trying to look for any warning signs. Snake not being remotely professional starts to point fingers and blames Raditch for not listening to Rick and not getting him any help. Raditch tells him to shove it up his giant self righteous ass because it’s hard to be a principle to about 700 students and staff there. Snake then starts to go off on Raditch some more and that’s where Spike tells Snake to shut the fuck up already because he’s upsetting Emma and we all know that Snake does whatever Spike says because he’s pussy whipped. You know, Snake truly is a perfect asshole. He’s projecting his own guilt onto Raditch because if it wasn’t for him putting Jimmy on the same team as Rick for the quiz show, none of that would have happened.

Outside the school Caitlin and Joey can’t get in due to it being locked down still. Caitlin trying to act like a big shot says that she’s from the local TV station and the Mountie says that there was some gun shots fired inside, but that’s all he’s willing to say. Joey tries to get in because Craig is in there, but he’s easily pushed back by the cop on duty.

Inside one of the class rooms Paige is going crazy not knowing what’s going on. They start to go over theories and that’s when Paige tells them that she got a text from her mom about a shooting there. Hazel get’s immediately concerned because she see’s that Jimmy isn’t in class. We hear a knock and that’s when the Asian counselor comes in looking for Hazel. Out in the hall she tells her that Jimmy was shot and he’s being taken to the hospital. Hazel starts to cry saying that she needs to go, but she can’t because of the lock down. This scene didn’t seem realistic to me. Would a counselor really go to a girlfriend or boyfriend to tell them what happened? I mean, would that be a priority, I don’t think so. The only people that would be notified would have been his parents.

Finally the lock down is over and Raditch on the PA is telling everyone that they are to go straight home and not to talk to any reporters. But you know that sure as hell isn’t going to happen. They’re all going to stay and gawk. I know I would. Jay and Alex come out and he tells her to relax because she’s saying that she knew she shouldn’t have done what she did. You can tell that she feels guilty as hell over what happened. They run into Spinner and Jay thought that it was him who was blasted by Rick. Spinner in shock tells them that it was Jimmy. In his guilt and fear he says that he has to tell them what they did, but Jay being a scumbag tells him no because they’d all get into real deep shit. Spinner says that he’s his best friend. Jay having no tact says, ” Either outcome, I would say he was your best friend.” Ouch! But it’s true.

Craig comes out and tells Joey and Caitlin that it was Jimmy who was shot. Just then a pushy reporter comes along asking Craig if he knew the victim. He get’s offended by her wording and says that he has a name. Caitlin get’s all pissed off and pushes her away. Again sounding full of herself she says to her, “Here’s your headline, local insensitive reporter, pummeled by famous colleague.” Please she’s just famous around town and that’s the extent of it.

The same reporter starts to ask Toby about what happened and asks if he tried to stop him. Toby has another spaz attack and asks full of tears what he was supposed to do. If she knew the story she would have said that he could have acted like a man instead of cowering behind his human shield Emma. But lets face it, Toby is useless in any situation and wouldn’t have been much help anyways. It’s here where it’s revealed by the reporter that Rick died, Toby all meekly says, “He died?” The report later on that day probably identified Toby as Degrassi’s top dweeb who knew the gunman. It should have been you who died Toby, it should have been you.

At the hospital Paige is comforting Hazel as Jimmy is in the ICU. Spinner comes by but Paige shakes her head at him pretty much saying no. Spinner just leaves crying because he knows what he did.

Seems like everyone is at Spike’s house watching the news. Spike starts to go on about how no one is supposed to be shot at Degrassi. Emma get’s annoyed with her and says that she talks about the school like it’s some sort of sacred place. I’m seriously surprised that Snake isn’t all traumatized again because when Claude killed himself in Degrassi High, it was him who found his headless, festering corpse and it fucked him up royally. He goes on to say that no one there took Rick’s bullying seriously. Ashley starts to go off on Rick, totally assassinating his character and for about the third time Toby acts like a giant pussy and leaves crying. Ashley goes on to say that she wants answers and wants to know what Rick was if he wasn’t a monster. Emma simply says that he was Toby’s friend. I love how she conveniently doesn’t mention that he was her friend too.

We then get a montage of various mourners of this episode’s events. People at the school are already starting a shrine dedicated to Jimmy. I bet you anything that half the people there crying over him didn’t even know his ass. That happens all the time unfortunately. I seriously laughed at the picture they used of Jimmy that says, Why?? At the hospital Paige is telling someone that there hasn’t been a change with Jimmy while Hazel is crying her eyes out watching over him. Spinner meanwhile is also crying because he’s a life ruining asshole and the guilt is eating away at him. The episode ends with Toby and Emma crying over what happened.

So got damn! This was a pretty good episode. I would say that it’s the best in the series so far. Pretty authentic except for the whole Hazel being told about Jimmy part. The only minus of course is the whole Joey subplot, but they wrapped up that unimportant bullshit fast. I have to say, I think at this point we all know that Jimmy ends up being paralyzed from being shot. But as I was watching this it was clear that he was hit more to the side of his back. Now either the bullet ricocheted off his ribs or he has that spinal disease where he has a curved one. Either way, I call bullshit, but ok, he’s now paralyzed for life because of it. All that being said, I think Degrassi was trying to spread the message that people can do awful things but they can still turn their lives around and actually change. But this episode threw that shit right out the window with Rick shooting Jimmy and attempting to Murder Emma as well. Sorry if this one was a bit wordy guys, I guess I had a lot of thoughts on it.

Season 4, Episode 7, “Times Stands Still Part 1”

It’s here everyone it’s here. The what’s going down two part episode of Degrassi. Joey is having more mortgage problems and he’s about to lose his house, but seriously, who gives two fucks about that. This is the two part episode where Rick goes right over the edge of the cliff and changes things at Degrassi forever. Well at least until Drake leaves the show.

Pre-Credit Opener: Rick is as happy as can be until Jimmy and Spinner pull up to fuck with him some more. Good God almighty! Spinner has gotten a new haircut and he now looks like a gay douchebag. Jimmy takes his stupid beret off and throws it into the dumpster. They say they’ll help him to look for it, but they just throw his ass in there instead. Rick meanwhile is breathing real hard because he’s angry as hell and it’s only going to get worse from here.

I’m guessing it’s either later on in the day or the next, but Rick spots Spinner’s car and decides to spray paint a giant X on it in retaliation for being picked on. In the hallway he runs into Jimmy and some harsh words are said. Right as Jimmy is about to hit him Snake comes along and asks him some sports questions, probably because he’s black and just assumes that he knows all about sports. His assumption is correct and he tells Rick that Jimmy is his newest team member for the quiz show because Heather St Claire had to pull out due to having a herpes outbreak. Let’s just say Rick isn’t happy to have one of his tormentors on his team.

We cut to Joey and his realtor who looks like Lulu Hogg from The Dukes of Hazard is telling him that he has to clean up his pigsty of a place because he’ll be having an open house. Craig comes down the stairs scratching his balls and Joey asks him what he’s doing there still. He says that he feels sick so there he is. Joey leaves him and the realtor because he has to go back to his failing dealership.

In the hallway Emma comes up to Rick and Toby and says that she made some flashcards for the quiz show. Rick says that he’s quitting because Jimmy is now on the team. Toby being the typical weasel tells him to go cry to Snake about it and he might change his mind. Emma goes on to say that Jimmy and the rest hate his guts because they don’t know him and that he came back to Degrassi because he wants to prove that he’s changed. She goes on to say that he should work with Jimmy on the team and in time he’ll get to know him. To prove his point, it says on his locker to go home and no one wants him there. Emma being a big shot rips the sign up and you can tell that Rick is starting to fall in love with her because that’s what guys like him do. They become infatuated at the first sign of kindness. Kind of like a dog if you will.

The next scene has Rick going to Raditch to complain about Jimmy being on the team and the fact that he picks on him alot. Raditch though doesn’t want to hear it and pretty much blows him off, telling him that he also has to work to make people like him. So yeah, this conversation is going to come back to bite Raditch right in the ass.

Out in the parking lot it seems that both Jay and Spinner got X’s on their cars. Alex correctly assumes that it was Rick who did it. Sean says that they should get it off right away before there’s permanent damage. Spinner acting like a bitch says that he’s going to tell Raditch. Sean mocks him of course because he wants to go and snitch on Rick. He goes on to point out that he’s going to want to know why Rick tagged him to begin with. Jay agrees with Sean and says that they need to keep Raditch out of it. Spinner vows that Rick is going to pay for what he did. Again, the machismo is strong in Spinner.

In the hallway they spot Toby having a drink at the fountain and that’s when Jay smashes his face against it. They want to know where Rick is but Toby surprisingly isn’t telling. In the gym Jimmy asks Toby who did it. Rick sounding bitter as hell asks Jimmy if wished that he had done it instead of Jay and Spinner. Jimmy tells him to back his shit off already. Rick tells him that he’s been suffering for weeks, and that Toby doesn’t deserve that, no one does. But I beg to differ on Toby. Anyways, that’s when you can tell that Jimmy feels bad about picking on the guy.

We switch to Joey where he starts to bitch Craig out about watching TV, but he’s shocked to see that Sidney is there. She tells him that Craig called her at work and let her know just what a giant loser Joey is. She’s probably thinking that she dodged a bullet there. She tells him that he should have told her about what was happening with the house. You can tell that his pride is wounded even though he shouldn’t have any. She get’s all sad and says that she made a mistake coming there and leaves.

In the gym the quiz show team is practicing and Rick is a genius at having useless knowledge. Sad to say, I’m the same exact way. To prove why Jimmy’s there Snake asks a sports question that Jimmy, the only brother there could answer. It’s obvious that Jimmy is starting to bond a little with Rick. Especially when Spinner comes along picking on him some more. Jimmy get’s annoyed and tells him to grow up. Alex all full of attitude says, “Oh look, Ricky found a friend.” Jimmy tells her, “Back off  you trailer park skank, it’s getting boring.” Rick fucks things up by being overconfident and does an X with his arms to Jay and Spinner. Both of them get pissed because he pretty much told them it was him who did it.

At his home Rick is being fitted in an ill fitting suit. Turns out it’s his dad’s, so no wonder. Here we get a glimpse at Rick’s instability. Toby comes by and Rick’s mom mentions to him how Rick’s new friends Jimmy and Emma have become pretty much inseparable from him and they’re the popular kids at school. Toby is shocked to hear that he told that to his mom because Toby knows that the both of them will never be part of the cool group.

Back at Joey’s, it seems like he still hasn’t cleaned the place up yet while Craig is still sick with what looks is the flu. Joey starts to bitch him out about calling Sidney over and asks how badly did he make him sound like the loser that he is. He then mentions that he has to close the dealership because he has to be there to sell the house. Hearing that he’s going to be there all day, Craig would rather be at school spreading his illness around because Joey’s become unbearable lately. Craig tells him that he should still get Sidney to help him because she actually knows what she’s doing and she’d get a good price for the home.

Outside the school Rick says thank you to Emma for actually talking to him and being decent. You can tell that he’s now infatuated with her because he says that when she talks, he listens and she’s his guide. Emma meanwhile doesn’t seem to notice and says that she’s glad that things worked out for him and that he actually made friends.

Inside Rick asks Jimmy if he’s nervous about the quiz show and Jimmy tries to play it cool, but admits that he is. Rick being confidant tells him not to worry about it because they’re going to kick the other school’s ass. Paige comes along and makes fun of his suit, but Rick is so giddy about his delusions of grandeur, he doesn’t give a shit what Paige has to say.

Seems like the show is being broadcast on public access and the game is called Wack Your Brain. Right off the bat Rick answers a question correct and they’re on the board. Funny how everyone in the school is watching the show. You would have thought that it would have been after school, but Degrassi always does things differently. Jimmy get’s to shine with answering a sports question, even though it was about tennis and he should be ashamed of himself for even knowing the right answer. As the game is progressing Degrassi is losing 170 to 180. The host then announces that in case there’s a tie each team will select one player to play the sudden death round. Of course the game is tied and they choose Rick to be their player. Being a fucking creep, he squeezes Emma’s hand and won’t let go of it. Emma seems mighty uncomfortable.

It’s break time and in the restroom Jimmy asks Rick how he has all sorts of useless knowledge. Rick just says that he reads a lot because he has a lot of free time on his hands due to having a lack of friends. Just then Jay and Spinner come along and they say what a good player Rick is. Jimmy leaves saying that they have the game in the bag thanks to him. Just as Rick is leaving Jay and Spinner block his path making him nervous. But Jay says that they’re cool and let him go by. As he heads out they both start talking about a plan to get him back and it involves Alex.

Back at Joey’s, it seems like he talked Sidney into coming back. She asks him if there’s anything that he can say to make her stay. Not having anymore dignity, Joey simply says that he needs help, badly.  She tells him that she can stay there all day telling him how much she hates him, but his family is in trouble and she’s willing to let everything pass. Joey then apologizes over how they finished, but she just ignores him. So what was the point of that?! She starts to talk about having an open house and to maybe have some music playing for atmosphere. She tells him not to play his hit single Everybody Want’s Something, because they actually want to make a sale. I was just thinking, if they’re losing their house, does this mean that they’re going to live in the trailer Joey has at his car lot? But shit, he’s about to lose his business too.

The Quiz show is back on and we see Alex barely sitting down in her seat. It’s obvious she was up to no good. The geek from Northern has scored 40 points. Before going up Rick whispers into Emma’s ear, “This is all for you.” Man Emma is becoming disturbed with his behavior by the minute. Rick of course wins the whole thing by ten points and is basking in the glory of being the hero of the show. But it’s short lived, just as he’s celebrating a bucket of yellow looking paint falls all over him. The insult to injury is that feathers follow. He’s beyond humiliated because everyone there is laughing their fucking asses off at him. Probably in the whole city too. They’re lucky that he doesn’t have any mental powers or else he would have killed everyone there in his rage like in Carrie.

Out in the hallway Emma tries to play do gooder by saying that the people who did it are totally juvenile. In his grief Rick says that they’re life ruiner’s and everyone was laughing at him. Emma being stupid is still trying to cheer him up by saying that no one is ever going to forget that it was him who won the game and that he’s the smartest guy in the whole city. Rick takes it that that means that Emma is in love with him and he tries to force a kiss on her. Emma now freaked out pulls away and yells at him to stop. Rick now completely out of his mind says that he thought that she loved him. Emma makes things about ten times worse by saying that she only felt sorry for him and besides, she has a body now and she can have whoever she wants.

Oh lord we go back to Joey’s and he’s busy cleaning up his house when there’s someone ringing the door bell. Turns out that it’s Caitlin and she’s finally back from her ten month Aids tour around the world. She then wants to know why Sidney’s name is on his lawn because Caitlin is crazy and insecure.

In the next scene we see Rick coming home and he’s calling out to see if his parents are home. You can tell that he’s relieved that they aren’t because that would have just been another humiliation having to explain what happened. In his despair he goes into his dad’s study and takes out a case that has his dad’s 45 in there. The episode ends with Rick just staring at the gun.

So yeah, this was a pretty good episode. Rick is obviously some one who is deeply troubled and probably needs to see a therapist. Especially since it’s clear that he makes up relationships in his head. But it’s too late for that. Things are definitely coming to a head in the next episode. As for the Joey sub plot, who cares. Not even Caitlin coming back was enough to save that stinker. That was probably the only thing wrong with this episode. But stayed tuned for the conclusion in a few days.

Season 4, Episode 6, “Islands In The Stream”

Toby and Rick have a contest to see which one is the more unfuckable person at Degrassi while Spinner and Paige have more relationship problems because of who else, Manny.

Pre-Credit Opener: We come upon Paige working at the Dot and she’s doing a horrible job of being a waitress. During her break, Paige is complaining about how hard the job is and the fact that she only made about 67 cents in tips. That’s when the manager comes along and all full of anger pretty much just fires her on the spot with no explanation at all.

At his locker, you can tell that Manny has now set her skanky eyes on Spinner by flirting with him about sun burns. Turns out she burnt her cooch while he burned his arms and back. Craig comes by and gets pissed off when he sees the picture of Spinner and Manny flirting at the car wash. How is he now just seeing this? You’d think that he would have noticed it in his little dark room. But anyways, he comes along and cock blocks Spinner by interrupting. After Manny leaves he tells him that he’s warning him about Manny. Spinner tells him to go away and to mind his own business. I have to point out that Spinner looks like a surfer dude with that mane he’s been sporting lately.

In the MI lab, Snake wants everyone to partner up for a quiz show. Toby tries to get with Emma but not wanting to be with Degrassi’s high geek, she tells him that she’s already with some girl named Heather. Rick and Toby start to go over Rick’s creepy hottest chicks of Degrassi list. Emma is his number three choice, while Mrs Hatzilakos is his number one for obvious reasons. Snake comes long and then makes them partners for the quiz show.

In the cafeteria some girl causes Paige to crash into Ashley and Hazel making Spinner laugh his ass off. He then starts acting like a bigger dick head by just grabbing her fries and treating her like shit. Stupid Paige lets him get away with it because she did wreak his car. But it was a piece of shit anyways.

At the mall Paige is having an interview at the movie theater. The manager asks her how she is at being a team player. She says that she’s all about that, but her heart drops when she see’s that Alex works there with her 70’s movie theater uniform on.

The next day Toby tries to compliment Emma, but please, she just blows him off because she has a pair of tits on her and she knows that she’s better than him now. Rick comes along laughing at his humiliation. Seems like these two are bonding over their love for hot chicks that they’ll never have and for having lack of friends. I love how when Toby mentions Hazel, Rick says that she has a couple of fine attributes. You know, because she’s busty as hell. Oh lord, they set up a geek contest and the prize is a set of role playing dice. That’s how you know that these two are at the bottom of the barrel there. The contest is whoever get’s the most kisses from their lists wins.

The next scene Paige is telling Spinner that she doesn’t want to ask Alex for help getting a job at the theater because they both hate each other. She bites the bullet and says that she knows that they’ve had their issues. Alex tells her that it’s ok and she’s put a bad word in for her. Hey, I say she deserves it for being such a shithead to everyone she doesn’t like.

In the science lab Toby comes panting up to Emma and pretty much just tells her about their contest. She just rolls her eyes and gives him a peck on the cheek. But shit, I would say that that shouldn’t count because it’s not really a kiss. Right away Toby starts to make fun of Rick and calls him a loser. But please, Toby is a losers loser. Emma then gives Rick a peck too because she feels sorry for him. Right away Rick laughs like a maniac and says that they need a new game the next day to break the tie.

In the hallway Paige is complaining how she can’t find a job to help pay for Spinner’s car. Hazel says that she’s better than that and him. Paige doesn’t know what she’s talking about. That’s when Hazel says that she misses the old Paige who wouldn’t take any of that bullshit from Spinner. Paige is still willing to give him a free pass until Hazel shows her the picture of Manny and Spinner dry humping at the car wash.

Now full of piss and vinegar she pays Spinner a visit at the Dot. He can’t help being a jerk and mentions when people usually get fired from a place, they don’t come back. She shows him the picture and he just tries to play it off that it was just a hug. Now going into a rage, she grabs him and says that that is a hug. Spinner is all full of pain because of his sun burn. She tells him that all he has to do is tell her that it was nothing and it’ll be fine. She’s shocked to see that he doesn’t say anything.

Out in the hallway Jay is still slamming Rick against the lockers because why not. Toby helps him up and they get back to their stupid little game. Rick tells him that the new rules are that whoever get’s the most kisses in a day wins and get’s the dice. Toby slams his elbow against the lockers in front of Manny. She asks him what’s wrong and he says that he hurt his elbow. Being a little hoe she gives him a kiss where it hurts. If Toby was smart he should have pointed this his penis. Manny wouldn’t have a problem kissing that too. OH!!!

At cheer practice Paige is giving Manny all sorts of shit because she hates her now. Funny how there’s not an adult there as their coach, its always been Paige running that squad. Spinner comes along with some flowers and admits that he had some guilty thoughts about Manny. That means that he jacked off to her already. Anyways, he gives her the flowers and Paige being dumb takes him back. She get’s a phone call and she got the job at the theater.

Continuing their stupid game, Toby hides the dummy for giving mouth to mouth in his locker while Rick is clearly struggling to get a kiss. Too bad he’s mellow now or else he would just push them down so they can crack their heads open and then he would be able to get a kiss. But seriously, what was Rick thinking? He should know that everyone at the school hates his guts. He’s so pathetic that he’s even offering five bucks, but he’s going nowhere fast. Toby meanwhile is getting mouth to mouth from someone who looks like Lizzie McGuire and then sets up a kissing booth to help sick kittens. Rick get’s pissed but still tries to get a kiss, too bad every female is just ignoring him. Toby feels bad for him because he’s a much bigger loser than he is, even though he should be rejoicing at the fact.

We then come upon Darcy and it seems like Toby told her about the contest and that Rick is losing big time because he’s a huge angry nerd who no one likes. She mentions that she’s noticed that everyone keeps pushing him into lockers and wants to know why he’s hated. Toby just ignores her and pays her five dollars. Darcy then comes along and turns on her charm by asking Rick about his glasses. He gets all happy when she says that she likes them. That’s when he mentions the contest and right way she offers to help. She kisses him, but she did it in front of Jay. Uh oh.

At Paige’s locker Hazel is continuing to give her opinion about Spinner treating her like shit. Not wanting to hear it, she tells her to back off or else she’s going to start doing the same thing about her relationship with Jimmy. I don’t know why she said that for, Jimmy seems to be treating her right.

Of course Paige is terrible at her new job as well. She’s lucky that Alex is being decent by giving her a break and actually helping her out by giving her pointers on what she’s doing wrong. Spinner and the boys come along and he can’t help acting like a complete dick with her in front of everyone. You can tell that both Craig and Alex got annoyed with him. And to prove the point Alex says she used to be afraid of her. But since she’s a coward and a suck, not anymore. She goes on to say that if any boyfriend of hers talked to her like he did to Paige, he would have been dumped already.

Seems like the movie is over and it’s obvious that there’s tension between Craig and Spinner about Manny. Still acting like a shithead he heads on over to the counter to fuck with Paige some more. She asks him for a ride home after work, but he says that he doesn’t want to because she doesn’t get off for another two hours. Craig makes fun of him for pretty much being a shitty boyfriend. Spin says something lame and Craig says, “Nice comeback genius.” Spinner then slaps Craig twice and walks away. Craig like his dad goes into a rage and hulks out. He shoves Spinner saying that he was always jealous of Manny and him. Spinner fucks things up by saying that he’s now jealous of Manny and himself. Paige hears that and you can tell get’s her heart broken. The guys meanwhile have started to fight, and Paige is trying to break it up saying that she works there. The manager comes out and says that she called security and they book it. Poor Paige then get’s fired even though she had nothing to do with it.

Back at Degrassi Toby has won the contest and the dice. Rick doesn’t care because someone really hot, meaning Darcy kissed him and he’s on cloud nine. Until Jay comes along and Rick leaves before he get’s his ass kicked again. Jay tells Toby that word around the school is that some hot new chick is being stalked by a psycho named Rick. Man, Rick was fast to act like a stalker motherfucker. But it’s in his blood, he can’t help it. To punish Toby for getting Darcy to kiss him, Jay throws him in a locker. Shit, I like Jay in this episode for that act alone!

In the cafeteria Alex comes by and tells Paige that she talked the manager into giving her a second chance. Spinner then lamely says that he’s sorry for getting her fired. She tells him not to worry about it because she still has a job. She then throws in his face what he said about Manny. He tries to play the victim again, but she’s had it with his shit. Especially because he wasn’t fighting over her, he was fighting over that whore Manny. She then says that they’ll figure out a payment system to pay him back, but they’re done. What a surprise, Manny ruined yet another relationship there at Degrassi. Her sexual powers are just too great for the guys there.

So this was another good one I think. Guys, Spinner just showed all of us how not to treat a girlfriend. If you treat her like shit, eventually they’re going to dump your ass. Unless they like being treated like garbage, which is sad, but there’s a lot of people out there like that, girls and guys actually. The Rick, Toby subplot was pretty good too because it shows that he’s still getting bullied and it’s actually getting worse too. Next week I’ll try to have the school shooting two parter up because it’s a good one!

Season 4, Episode 4, “Mercy Street”

Uh oh, Rick the woman beater returns in this episode.

Pre-Credit Opener: Right off the bat Paige is super pissed that Rick has returned to Degrassi and you can tell by how flared her nostrils are. Marco, Spinner and Alex are pissed off as well. Emma not minding her business asks who he is. Paige tells her and reminds us all how Rick used to beat up Terri and she hates his guts because of it. Even though Paige treated her like shit all the time, but whatever. Emma becomes extremely upset when Spinner tells her that he’ll be in her grade starting the next day. This is trouble because a self righteous Emma is always a bad thing.

After the credits we see that JT is hanging out with Manny at Liberty’s. The reason they’re hanging out with her? Because she has a hot tub. JT still acting extremely immature asks Manny to pull his finger and he butt dusts her right then and there. Manny then asks Liberty if it’s cool for them to even be there, Liberty just tries to sound cool by saying that somethings you have to say what the heck. Seriously, she said heck and couldn’t even say hell. Anyways, Manny tries to ask if Emma can come over too. But Liberty still hates her for what she did in the previous episode. Manny has real nerve bringing Emma up since it was Manny who snitched Emma to Liberty. Oh lord, Liberty’s younger brother Johnny Mathis comes out with a ironing board and says that it’s their new diving board. JT climbs on top of it and of course it doesn’t collapse because he weighs a hundred and nothing. Still acting like a jackass he’s about to dive into the hot tub and that’s when Johnny Mathis pulls his trunks down and Manny gasps. Either because it’s the first time she saw his junk, or he has a real small dick. Either way, JT is humiliated.

Back at Degrassi Emma is hanging out with the upper class men for some reason. Rick comes by and tries to make small talk with them. Emma now taking up Terri getting beaten up as a cause even though she didn’t know her stops Rick from walking to class. Raditch tells her to step aside and she speaking for everyone says that they don’t want him there. Raditch knowing that she has a new cause every week tells her that it’s not one of her crusades and to stay out of it.

In the hallway JT is trying to get a date going with Manny, but she doesn’t seem to want to hang out with him. JT notices that ever since she saw his penis, she’s been acting differently. JT gives her a smootch but Manny breaks up their kiss because here comes Craig. They have some small talk, completely ignoring JT.

In the locker room JT is pissed that Manny still seems to be into Craig. Toby and Johnny Mathis (Danny) both say that Manny is hot and that maybe she is into Craig still. Toby also points out that they’ve only kissed a couple of times. Just then Craig and the other dudes come out of the shower and that’s when JT tells him that Manny is his girlfriend now and to respect that. Craig says that he does and that’s when he takes his towel off to dry his hair. JT immediately stares at his cock and Craig instantly asks him what the fuck he’s looking at. Spinner, being the worst person to do that in front of just laughs and says, “What?!”

After those hijinks, Rick comes up to Paige at her locker and tries to apologize for pushing Terri with all his strength and causing her to hit her head on a random piece of concrete block and split her fucking head open. Seriously, if you don’t know, that’s what he did to her. He tells her that he’s in counseling and asks how Terri is. Paige eyes full of tears goes to the bathroom to cry her eyes out. Emma not minding her business asks her what’s wrong and Paige is upset that Rick is back at the school and no one can do anything about it. Emma tells her that they’ll handle it, vigilante Degrassi style!

At the Dot Emma is hanging out with the older crowd and you can tell that she loves it. They don’t enjoy their time together though because that’s when Rick walks in. Everyone get’s pissed off and Emma wanting to make them like her goes up to Rick and tells him that no one wants him there. Rick just says that he has a right to an education. Emma tells him to go to another school or he’ll be sorry. He says that she can’t touch him or Raditch will get on her ass. She says he’s right, but since they’re not at school Emma grabs him by the arm and drags his ass out of the door. Paige and the rest love what Emma just did. But not as much as Emma is loving herself at the moment.

Back at Degrassi Emma is promoting her newest cause, Students Against Violence, or SAV. Nah, I just came up with that. Sean and Ellie come along and are annoyed that both Paige and Emma want to make life a living hell for Rick.

Oh boy, in the restroom JT has gotten himself a penis pump because he figures that Craig has a bigger Johnson than he does and that’s why Manny won’t bang him.

We get a montage where Rick is now feeling the pressure because everyone there hates him with a fury. The girls start to block his path, no one will let him sit with them at lunch. Shit even the metal looking guy and his mullet friend are shoving him against the lockers. But uh oh. It seems like Emma is starting to break and feel bad for him now.

In Mrs Kwan’s room Spinner is reading some rhymes from the legendary Kid Erich. He tries to say that he loves girls with a bootylicous ass but Mrs Kwan stops him. Rick then volunteers to read his thoughts from Gandhi of all people. He starts to talk about forgiveness, but Spinner is thinking, fuck that noise. He throws a paper at Rick and everyone laughs at him. Take that Rick and Gandhi!

In the hallway Manny see’s JT and she tells Liberty that she knows that he’s going to come up to talk to her. She wonders why he doesn’t leave her alone. Liberty points out that he is her boyfriend, but if she can’t stand being with him, they should just break up. JT of course comes up and asks her if she would like to come over to his house after school. Manny tells him yes, so going by that, I guess she’s going to break up with him.

Elsewhere Rick tries to give Emma a check, but Emma all full of herself says that she can’t accept it because the whole ribbon campaign is about him. Emma is then blown away that it’s about $500 dollars. Alex comes along and tells him that they don’t want his money. Rick then leaves when she asks him if he’s going to hit her too. Emma being greedy and stupid asks for the check, but that’s when Alex rips it up. Emma all annoyed says that maybe if she cared about the cause she wouldn’t have done that. Alex gets in her face and asks her what she knows about it. She then asks her if she’s ever had to ice down her mom’s face because some scumbag boyfriend beat her up. Or lay awake all night listening to her cry. Alex says, “I didn’t think so.” and leaves all annoyed. So yeah, big surprise there that Alex comes from a horrible home life.

At JT’s room, JT has put on some sexy music and dimmed down the lights. It’s as awkward as it can get and she asks him if he’s nervous. He tries to kiss her and he’s all sweaty and nasty. Manny being grossed out says she has to go to the bathroom. JT takes that as an opportunity to pump up his wang. Manny finally getting the courage to break up with him goes back into the room and catches him. Got damn that’s embarrassing.

Back at the Dot Rick walks in and Paige is instantly annoyed asking what he’s doing back there again. Alex being a shit starter says that he’s probably there to see his new crush Emma. Paige gets pissed and asks her if she’s starting to wimp out on her by feeling sorry for him. Rick makes shit worse by going up to her and saying, “Good afternoon Emma.” Emma now trying to prove to everyone that she doesn’t feel bad for him over does it by tripping Rick and humiliating him in front of everyone. Rick seems to go into a rage as he’s getting up. Jay seeing this takes Rick outside to kick his ass and does just that. Plus he breaks his glasses by stepping on them. Rick all defiant asks who else wants a shot at him. Alex says that she wants to hit him next and here’s where Emma fucks up by stopping her. Everyone of course get’s angry at her and she’s as hated as Rick is. Man, I just noticed, Rick is a hairy motherfucker. He looks like Teen Wolf in this shot.

The next day at school, Manny comes dressed like a pimp and she tells JT to go away. JT says that he was just trying to live up to Craig. Stupid JT thinks it’s because Craig has a bigger dick than him. Manny all annoyed tells him that it’s not his dick. It’s the way that JT acts. Which is really immature and Craig was never like that. But bullshit, Craig has acted like a jackass in the past too. JT now desperate because he doesn’t want to lose a hot piece like Manny says that he can change. But Manny tells him that it’s over.

We see that Emma is now on the outs with Paige and her group of friends. Rick comes up to her with some old nerd glasses and he tries to apologize. She tells him to stop. The only reason she did what she did was because it was wrong, it still doesn’t mean that she likes him or are friends. that being said, she asks him why the fuck he came back to the school, knowing that he’s hated by all. The episode ends with Rick saying that he likes it there and that’s he changed. He goes on to say that he’ll show them how wrong they are about him. Emma tells him that they’re not interested. Rick being delusional says that they will be some day. Now if you’ve seen the show, especially this season, you know how foreshadowing that statement was.

So this was a pretty good episode. Entertaining as hell and really makes you go, hmm. Not the JT and Manny part. He was annoying and I’m glad Manny dumped him finally. But the whole Rick thing. Sure he’s a dickhead that deserves everything what’s happening to him, but at the same time, you kind of feel sorry for him. Especially with the bullying. But this is just the beginning. Things are going to come to a head with this storyline.

Season 3, Episode 17, “Don’t Dream It’s Over”

So we return to an Episode that “Goes There”. That’s right this is the big Terri get’s fucked up by her boyfriend episode. I’m not sure, but I believe this is the last episode she’s featured in, or maybe she makes one last appearance as the season concludes. But who cares. Let’s see how Terri get’s taken out of Degrassi. Man, what a DeBummer.

Pre-Credit Opener: We open up with Paige telling the gang that she has her parents mini van for the weekend and you know what that means. Party!! Everyone is super excited except for Terri because she doesn’t have that special someone to go on what’s most likely going to be a lame road trip. Hazel tells her, “You’ll be with all of your friends idiot!” Paige tells her to bring someone and we all know who Terri is thinking of bringing along because she is indeed an idiot.

Oh what a surprise. Yet again Mrs Kwan is teaching something that isn’t remotely related to language class. I would say she’s more of a life skills teacher. I remember when I was in Jr High we had a class called Life Skills class. And it was pretty much stupid shit like this. Rick and Terri become partners for a trust exercise and yeah, it’s pretty predictable. They each fall into each other’s arms and with that, Rick weasel’s his way into Terri’s heart again.

After class Rick tells Terri that he wanted to call her to apologize for beating the hell out of her, but he was too much of a chicken shit to do it. He goes on to say that he misses her and the fact that she hung out with Paige all the time made stalking her hard. Terri just leaves and says she’ll talk to him later.

In Snake’s class Marco is being a little brown noser and tells him that the sub that they had sucked ass and they’re all glad that he’s back. Snake is back to his old self. At least he’s not a dick anymore. Oh lord Marco and Ellie have a night of watching an Indian movie double feature. What a couple of bores I swear. Ashley points out to Ellie that Sean like most normal teenage boys wouldn’t sit through that kind of boring bullshit. Ellie says, “Why would Sean come?” Ashley points out that they are sort of seeing each other, but Ellie is adamant that things haven’t changed between her and Marco just because she’s seeing Sean now. Yeah, we all know this isn’t going to end well.

At Caitlin’s TV station Sean walks into Caitlin and Ellie’s bull session. Sean cuts to the chase and he wants to watch a new movie called Elimination Round 3. Ellie says that she wants to go with him, but she realized that she has a boring evening with Marco planned already. What’s a girl to do?

We cut to The Dot and everyone is disgusted and pissed off at Terri for bringing Rick along to their sacred hangout. Paige all full of fury says that she’s not going to be driving that asshole around all day long. Spinner points out that it’s better that they come along since they’ll be able to keep an eye on them.

Ha! The poster to Elimination Round 3 features a bald black dude and none other than motherfucking Yick Yu! Marco and Ellie come along and right away he’s acting like such a woman. Sean much like I would be in that situation is disappointed that she brought him along.

So it’s finally time for the big road trip and it seems like they just went to the local Degrassi park. Rick sit’s his ass on the hood of the van and tells Terri to come and join him. Paige all annoyed tells him to get the hell off before he and Terri put the mother of all dents on it.

Back at the movie Marco and Ellie are acting like a couple of assholes. You can tell that they think that they’re sophisticated and that an action movie is beneath them. Jay get’s so annoyed at them that he throws popcorn at Marco. Sean then reaches for some popcorn but he touches Marco’s hand instead. He probably wants to boil it because he thinks he has gay now.

The scene cuts back to the park and Paige is fuming and you can tell she’s about to blow. Rick goes to get what I’m assuming is food for Terri. She takes that as an opportunity to talk to her about Rick. Terri being a fool says that he apologized. Paige getting more irritated by the minute shouts out, “Of course, that’s what his kind does!” Rick comes out of nowhere and starts to tell Paige that she has no right to tell Terri who she can be friends with and that she’s a backstabber. I don’t know how she is in that situation. It’s not like she ever fucked Rick over like she did to Manny and Hazel. Anyways, Paige goes on to call him a psycho and Rick loses it and kicks Paige’s mini van and leaves. Terri being on Rick’s side starts to yell at Paige. She pretty much says that she’s sick of her shit and constantly being told what to do. Paige having enough yells at her to go after him if she’s such a bad friend. I gotta say, I’ve been in Paige’s situation before with people like Terri. Especially when they get back together with someone they know is toxic. It’s very annoying and frustrating, but you can’t control people. Even if they are fucking stupid.

Out in some field where a bunch of bricks are just laying around, Rick is going crazy kicking at the air in anger. Terri starts to apologize about Paige but Rick cuts off her shouting, “She does not matter!” Terri says, “Calm down day time Emmy.” He does and goes on to say that he’s happy that they’re together again. After they kiss, Terri starts to pull him along and says to just ignore Paige. He tugs her back all aggressive and says he’d rather walk back. Terri points out that it’s far walk. Rick says that she called him a psycho. Paige tells Rick that that’s just Paige being herself, which is a bitch. Rick now is starting to get more aggravated and says, “What? That makes it ok? My feelings mean nothing to you?” Terri starts to panic from his vise like grip thanks to him hulking out due to anger again. She says that she’s going back because he’s hurting her. At that he loses it and yells, “You’re not going! You’re not!!” And then pushes her and Terri fucking splits her head open falling on top of one of the random cinder blocks just lying around. At this point Rick makes a shocked face because he knows that he went way over the line. He went up to 11 with that fury.

We cut back to Paige and she’s clearly worried about Terri because it’s been awhile since she left. They come out of the bushes and spot Rick kneeling next to Terri’s carcass. Rick looking like OJ with Terri’s blood all over his hands panics and runs away. I love how Spinner made no attempt to chase him and stomp his ass into the ground. Instead he runs to get his cell phone.

At Degrassi Mr Raditch is telling the entire class that Terri was maimed that weekend and is in the hospital until further notice. Marco starts to ask Snake if it was an accident and Spinner cuts him off by saying that it wasn’t an accident. Ashley wonders out loud if Rick is in jail. Snake tells everyone since he’s a minor he’s not allowed to talk about any specifics. Spinner tells him that if he see’s Rick, his ass is grass. Oh lord Snake then says, “We can talk about our feelings together.” I’m with Spinner, get the fuck out of here with that hippy bullshit Snake. Paige busts out this lame looking get well card for Terri and everyone signs it.

Back to the B plot, Ellie is telling Marco that she doesn’t really want to go visit Terri since she didn’t even know her. And you know what? Why should she? Marco offers to go with her and that’s when Sean comes by and get’s instantly annoyed at seeing Marco next to Ellie. He makes a major alpha move and makes Marco move out of the way. It’s hilarious. Ellie now pissed off leaves Sean by himself and goes with Marco. Ellie doesn’t seem to know how to act in a relationship.

The next scene is at the local Degrassi hospital. Terri is so messed up that she’s now in a coma. Terri’s dad comes along and tells Spinner and Paige that she’ll be having surgery later on in the night because she has a blood clot. He then starts to go off on Rick and he can’t believe that little prick would hurt his daughter like he did. By the look on their faces he picks up on the fact that they knew that he was being abusive towards her.  Understandably he yells at the both of them and asks why the hell didn’t they say anything. The both of them just leave with tears in their eyes.

Outside The Dot Paige stops her mini van and starts to cry. Spinner tells her that she’s going to be ok and gives her a little smooch. At that Paige aggressively starts to make out with him. Even Spinner being a big horn dog isn’t down for this shit. Paige of course get’s all pissed off and starts with the blame game. She goes on to say that none of this would have happened if Spinner would have just left them behind like she wanted to. Spinner now angry blurts out the fact that she’s the one who told her to go off with him. Check mate!

Inside, Ellie is telling Marco that she should dump Sean because he’s being rude towards Marco. Marco points out that the only rude one in that relationship is her. Plus he’s tired of being her security blanket and feeling like a third wheel. I think he just doesn’t want to hang out with Sean’s scumbag friends.

All dejected, Spinner makes his way back to Degrassi and then he spots Rick waiting inside a car. Spinner get’s super pissed and drags his ass out. Rick starts to yell, “Spinner stop!” Spinner asks him if he stopped when he ravaged Terri. Paige then comes along pleading for him to stop too. Rick’s mom then comes out of the school and tells them to leave her son alone. Spinner just leaves crying. Ugh! I would have been like Kevin Dillon’s character in Platoon and told Spinner, “Fucking pussy! He’s laughing at you!” I would have beat the shit out Rick. But you know, this is Degrassi and it wants to teach that an eye for an eye is not the way. Spinner sits on a bench and starts to cry to Paige that he’s no different than Rick. Paige tells him that he is different because he stopped himself. *Eye roll* Whatever.

We conclude the B plot by Sean and Ellie having a conversation about their relationship. They both think that they’re dumping each other. Ellie tells him that she’s sorry for being a horrible girlfriend, and then she says, “You haven’t been a great boyfriend either.” I don’t know how she figures this, but Sean knowing better just agrees with her craziness and says that he doesn’t hate Marco, he just wants to date her.

At the hospital Terri’s dad comes out and tells them that they don’t know if she’s brain damaged or not. They all apologize for their behavior and Paige says that they should have said something. He makes them feel better by saying that they’re good friends.

Man, I must be rusty, this took me about two hours to write. Ridiculous. But this was a pretty good episode. I guess we had to have a domestic violence story and Degrassi delivered. I still say Rick should have had his balls cut off for what he did. Another frustrating thing is that we never found out if Rick was punished or not. But this is Degrassi after all and they always like to leave things open ended.

Season 3, Episode 10, “Never Gonna Give You Up”

Ok, after a computer breaking down and then having internet issues, I’m back for another review of Canada’s most fucked up school.

Pre-credit opener: We open on the students sitting on the gym floor for some type of class and Rick’s trying his best to be Lord fucking Byron with Terri. You know, I had forgotten that she had even gotten together with him. Oh of course it’s Mrs Kwan’s English class, so you know, they’re doing another activity that barely has to do with the subject she’s supposed to be teaching. Seems that they’ll be reenacting a scene that Marco has written. I guess he think’s he’s the next Shakespeare. Jimmy tells the group that he doesn’t want to act so he wants to be the director. Rick being annoying as hell says that he’s better suited because his mom once took a shit where they had plays once. Jimmy quickly shuts him down and makes him the stage manager. His smug look and attitude is infuriating. He get’s pissed though when Jimmy announces that Terri is going to be the lead and she gives him a hug. Clearly this motherfucker is insecure.

rick

The rehearsal’s for the scene is on and Terri is the world’s worst actress. Jimmy tries to get her to relax, but that’s when Rick comes along and gives her the worst stage directions like breathing deeply. He should know that someone of Terri’s size can’t take deep breathing, she’ll get really dizzy and pass out. Anyways, she does what he told her and it’s even worse acting than before. Terri sucks so bad that Jimmy wants a meeting at The Dot after school.

We cut to Spinner and Craig and Spinner is really dismayed that JT has wormed his way into Paige’s good graces. That’s because if you remember, he tried to beat up Dean for raping Paige, but he lost the fight badly. So maybe she just feels sorry for him. But Spinner doesn’t give a shit because JT is fucking aggravating and is always around. Spinner comes along and shoves JT out of the way and tells him to get lost. JT being an annoying pecker head starts to mimic Spinner, driving him crazy. I know I would have beat the shit out of him long ago. But he’s pussy whipped by Paige and he leaves him alone.

jt-paige

In the next scene Rick is starting to show Terri how insecure he is by asking her how long she’s known Jimmy and if she likes him. She says yeah, and he quickly makes a face. She tells him not like she likes him. If he wasn’t such a spaz, he’d realize that Jimmy has zero interest in Terri. In Snake’s class, Jimmy makes a face as they kiss. Hazel laughs and says that they’re not that bad. But Jimmy says that Rick is the one who’s nauseating. At her computer station Terri has carved Rick’s name onto the desk.

Later on at The Dot, Rick is giving the group more pointers about the boring world of theater. After he finishes, Terri has this smug look on her face like she’s super impressed by Rick and his stupid bullshit. Spinner comes along and takes their order because he’s working there now and that’s when they start to notice that Rick is a bit controlling. Especially since she wants a burger and he suggests that she order a salad instead because of her weight. If the woman wants to eat her own weight in chicken nuggets than let her you asshole. Of course Terri being stupid, she neither minds nor notices.

terri-rick

Back at Degrassi, Mr Raditch asks JT if there’s something that he wants to tell him. JT being a fuck up wonders what he did now to piss him off. That’s when he shows him a note where apparently it’s a love note for Mr Raditch from him. JT adamantly denies that it’s from him and Raditch is relieved to hear that. As he walks away, JT opens his  locker to see that he has a love shrine dedicated to Radich and quickly slams the door shut. Right away he knows that it was Spinner who did it. He then makes it clear that he doesn’t want JT’s corny ass hanging around anymore.

mr-raditch

At the theater stage, Terri is talking directly to the audience like a robot thanks to Rick’s advice. At that Jimmy has had enough and he goes up to Rick and tells him not to be telling Terri want to do because her performance has become worse and worse each time. Rick offers to tell her, but Jimmy says that he will, later on at The Dot without him. Rick didn’t like that one bit and looks at Jimmy with hatred in his eyes.

In the hallway Spinner is telling Paige and laughing at the fact that he completely humiliated JT earlier that day. That’s when JT comes along and tears off Spinner’s track suit pants, revealing his heart boxers to the world at large. Spinner swears vengeance against JT as everyone including Paige laughs their asses off at him.

spinner

Elsewhere Rick is having a meltdown over Jimmy telling him what’s what. Rick being an asshole then tells Terri that she doesn’t have to listen to him. Terri points out that she sort of has to because Jimmy’s the director. Being a typical manipulator he tells her that he just doesn’t want her to make an ass of herself in front of everyone.

And what does she do? She makes an ass of herself, but only because she listened to Rick’s advice. It’s funny because she was doing just fine until she saw Rick and his look of disappointment on his face. She goes from being natural to talking like a 60’s robot who has breathing problems. I love how she see’s that everyone is laughing at her when she started to do that, but she just can’t stop herself.

After school, Terri starts to go off on Rick and his stupid stage directions that humiliated her in front of the whole class. She mentions how she should have listened to Jimmy and that’s when he grabs her wrist all hard and tells her that he doesn’t like that tone of voice. Terri all afraid tells him that he’s hurting her and to let her go. You can tell this piece of shit feels no remorse for what he just did.

The next day Rick like all typical abusers tries to act like nothing happened and makes it up to her by bringing her flowers. He starts to tell her his paranoid fantasies of Jimmy being into her. Once again she tells him that they’re just friends. He then changes tactics and goes on to say how beautiful and wonderful she is. Terri craving attention of this kind completely falls for it.

In the girls restroom Paige and Hazel are telling Terri how lucky she is that she found a sweet dweeb like Rick. Why is this important you ask? Well I’ll tell you. Paige wants to hang out at her house so that Terri can tell them all about her relationship and that’s when Terri says, “I’ll have to ask him first.” After Paige leaves, that’s when Hazel notices Rick’s hand prints all over Terri’s wrist. Right away Hazel knows what’s up.

Out in the hallway, Spinner and JT’s prank war continues. Spinner’s next move is to act like he’s over the whole thing, but behind JT, Craig comes along and puts a speaker device in JT’s locker. After he leaves JT tries to flirt with Manny the whore, but that’s when these really monster sounding farts start to come out of his locker. Manny leaves all disgusted and right away he finds it and knows that it was Spinner still fucking with him. I just noticed that the girl behind Manny seems to be checking out her ass.

In the theater/gym, Terri decides to ask Rick if she can go and hang out with Paige and have a girls night. Being possessive Rick tells her that he doesn’t like that idea and even tries to invite himself along. He goes on to accuse her of wanting to talk about him and trying to pick up other guys. Terri tells him that he’s acting crazy and that’s when he snaps and decides to bitch slap the shit out of her. Terri see’s blood on her lips and just leaves without saying anything.

terri-rick-slap

At The Dot, JT decides to order a really complicated order which flusters Spinner because he’s an idiot. Spinner tells him to cut his shit out and that’s when JT starts to copy everything Spinner says again. Spinner loses his minds starts to rough JT up and that’s when the owner comes along and calls him into his office all pissed off. Now, JT fucking with Spinner at his place of work is not cool, he definitely deserves a severe ass kicking for that shit.

We cut to Paige’s and that’s when Hazel decides to grill her about their relationship. Especially the fact that Rick and Terri never fight. Terri says sometimes, but it’s mostly just Rick being abusive towards her. So it’s one sided. Hazel then notices Terri’s fat lip, Terri being the victim defends Rick and denies that Rick is hurting her. She even goes on to say that Hazel is being a hater and leaves in a huff.

She comes along to one of Degrassi’s back alley’s and runs into Rick waiting for her like a fucking stalker. He tries to manipulate her again, by saying how much he loves her. Terri upset about her fight with Hazel tells him that she just wants to be alone. That’s when Rick takes it as an opportunity to tell her that he’s making a new rule and that rule is that she’s only allowed to talk to Paige and Hazel at school only. Instead of telling him to fuck off with that, she just says that she needs to go to think. Rick yet again loses it and starts to accuse her of wanting to dump his ass. She tells him that she does love him, but that he’s clingy as hell. When he hears that he shoves Terri against a shed and then apologizes to her. Terri now pissed off tells him that that’s the last time that he’ll ever touch her.

rick-terri-angry

In the hallway JT is telling Spinner how sorry he is for getting him in trouble at work. Especially since Paige told him that he got demoted to dishwasher. I’m surprised that Spinner didn’t get fired for beating up a customer. Anyways, they both call of their prank war. Spinner agrees to it as long as JT promises to stop cock blocking him. All JT demands is to be treated like a Human. However, JT get’s one final laugh as Mrs Kwan comes along and shows Spinner a love poem that he supposedly wrote to her.

Elsewhere Jimmy is telling Terri that if Rick ever does that kind of shit again, to let him know so that Jimmy can get his ass kicked by Rick. Because come on, Jimmy has lost every single fight he’s been in and lost them badly. Terri goes on to tell Hazel that she feels so stupid for putting up with Rick’s abuse. She’s even more stupid because she says that she still cares for him. At her locker Terri see’s that Rick left a rose for her like he did before they got together. The episode ends with Terri full of sass throwing it onto the floor and annihilating it with her foot while making direct eye contact with Rick.

I’ll say that this was a good episode and only because this was a completely recycled episode from Degrassi High when Kathleen and her formerly mustached boyfriend Scott beat the holy hell out of her too. You can check out my episode review here: https://degrassijuniorhighreviewed.wordpress.com/2014/09/04/season-1-episode-6-nobodys-perfect/ I mean, goddamn, they even reused the same exact situation about Kathleen wanting to rehearse a scene from a play. Not very original at all Degrassi writers. As for the JT and Spinner prank war, it was more annoying than funny. So meh. The whole JT being in love with Raditch was funny though, so I’ll give them that.

Season 3, Episode 8 “Whisper To A Scream”

Ellie becomes a cutter in this episode. Could she be even more fucking emo?

Seems like the Canadian army is deploying to Afghanistan for the war on terror and Ellie’s dad is going to be going into the shit. Ellie of course is depressed and her dad tells her not to worry since it’s just a peace keeping mission. Yeah right. I guess Ellie isn’t really worried about her dad, she’s worried about her mom. His dad tells her to calm her tits and that she’s under control. Whatever that means. Going by that, I’m assuming Ellie’s home life is complete and utter shit. No wonder she’s so dour. And to make the point, as soon as her dad kisses her mom good bye and goes onto the bus, her mom tells her not to show any emotions because she’s that cold of a person.

The next day Ashley comes by and asks Ellie if she’s ok. Ellie completely following in her mother’s footstep’s tells her that it’s no big deal because he’s in the army and that’s what happens. Apparently Ellie is hella nervous because she’s interviewing for the most important and chance of a lifetime job she’ll ever get. Oh no wonder she’s nervous, she’ll be working for Caitlin and her stupid nature show. But Ellie, always negative is sure that Paige will get it because Paige get’s everything that she wants.

Seems like the B plot involves Terri and some creep who keeps leaving roses on her locker. I gotta say, it’s been a long time since Terri has had a storyline in the show. Terri seems to have a huge crush on a nerd who has 90’s rocker hair. Hazel starts laughing and says all loud, “You have the hots for Rick? Why don’t you ask her out bitch?” Hazel pushed Terri onto Rick and it’s as awkward as it can get.

In Coach Armstrong’s class Paige comes by and looks obnoxious as hell with her stupid old fashioned glasses and power suit she has on. She basically tells Ellie that she’s totally going to get the job and Ellie get’s even more down. If that was possible. To make her day worse, Armstrong says that they’ll be taking a pop quiz and Ellie is so boned because she didn’t do her homework and it would have helped her out if she had done it.

The next scene Ellie is in the cafeteria and she’s bummed as hell because she bombed the test big time. Marco comes by bitching about the fact that he got a B+. Ellie tells him to shut the fuck up and not worry about it. She can’t finish her thought though because Marco has spotted Dylan taking off his sweater and is now horny for him. So off he goes to accost him. Paige and Ashley come by and that’s when the Asian counselor decides to make a visit and they have to sign some forms for the internship. Ashley got one for a record company. I don’t know how she did this, she’s completely talent less music wise. Please stop trying to make her and Craig into stars Degrassi! It’s not going to happen! Anyways, Paige some how manages to spill grape juice all over Ellie’s white emo shirt and she’s so distressed she seems like she’s going to cry. In the restroom Ellie is furiously scrubbing away, but at this point she’s fucked because that stain isn’t coming out, no matter what she does.

We cut to Caitlin’s TV station and Paige is kissing major ass. It’s disgusting. Ellie meanwhile is wearing a huge rain coat that makes her look like a serial killer. Caitlin tells her to relax because Ellie is coming apart at the seams during her interview.

Outside Terri and Hazel are asking Manny the whore that if she likes someone if she would go for it. Manny says while looking at Craig, yes in a heart beat and life is too short. Craig still feeling guilty just looks at Manny and hauls ass. The conversation is interrupted by Toby and he’s creeping everyone out, more than usual I should say because he’s talking like fucking Hannibal Lector. Hazel thinks that maybe Toby is the secret admirer and Terri can’t help shuttering in disgust. Even Terri wouldn’t stoop so low as to go out with a spaz like Toby. Seems like she has dignity after all.

Oh come on Degrassi writers! Seriously?! Ellie walks in and sees her mother drunk as shit on the couch. I have a lot of disdain right now because they’re completely recycling the episode from Degrassi Junior High where Kathleen’s mom had the same problem which lead her to have bulimia. Instead of going that route, Ellie being a true emo supremo goes the cutting route.

ellie-cutting

The next morning Paige is pretty much telling everyone that she got the job because she and Caitlin connected on such a personal level. Ellie and Paige are then called out of class by the Asian counselor and much to Ellie’s surprise she got the job. Ha! In your face Paige! Paige makes a shitty remark because she’s a piece of shit and leaves in a huff. Not that Ellie cares though, because she just landed a nice primo job.

We cut back to Terri and Toby is once again acting like a creepy little shit by acting like Hannibal. Including having a creepy grin on his face. I swear, Toby adds nothing to this show. He’s the worst.

toby

In the next scene we see Ellie being way too into her new job and we get a montage of her working on a story for teen hotlines while this really lame song plays in the background. The story seems to hit a little close to home for her because someone brings up the subject of cutting. A pain she knows far too well. The rest of the montage deals with her lousy drunk of a mom and her coping with her drunkenness by cutting herself on her arm.

ellie-montage

We see her running up the steps of the school and it’s obvious that she’s late. The secretary is being a real bitch by pointing out that she doesn’t have a note explaining why she was late and that she was late a few times the last couple of weeks too. She then basically threaten’s Ellie by telling her that she can lose her job over it. I had no idea that the school secretary had that much power over students.

Upset over that fucking bitch acting like she was. Ellie goes into the restroom ready to cry and that’s when she decides to take her compass out and scratch the hell out of her arm. She’s interrupted by the worst possible person, Paige. Paige notices that Ellie is bleeding a lot and becomes concerned. Or is it just being nosy? Outside Paige tells her that she saw what she did and asks her why she would do that to herself for. Paige pleads with her to get help, but Ellie tells her to fuck off. It doesn’t help that Ellie can’t stand her ass.

ellie-paige

Oh lord. We got back to Terri and Toby once again pops out of the shadows with his horrible Hannibal impression. Terri’s had enough of his shit and asks him if he left her the rose. Toby then busts out a notebook and he explains that it’s a science report and he was testing Terri to see if she really has evil Satanic powers because Ashley told him about it. He goes on to say that Terri doesn’t have any gifts and that she failed miserably. Needless to say, Terri is beyond relieved that Toby isn’t the one that’s into her.

In the hallway, Paige is waiting on a bench and that’s when the Asian counselor conveniently says in front of Ellie that she’ll see her in a bit and wants to know all about her friend and her problem. Ellie of course loses her shit and goes off on Paige. Paige tells her that what she’s doing to herself is both scary and dangerous. Ellie tells her that Paige just can’t handle the fact that she lost out to Ellie and she’s just doing this because she wants her job. Paige tells her that it’s not the case and she just wants to help Ellie. She then proceeds to yell at her telling her to show her her arm. Ellie now in tears shows her her arm and it looks like a fucking Freddy Krueger attacked her in her nightmares. Paige in a rare show of compassion tells her that it’s ok and holds her hands.

ellie-cuts

Finally the Terri secret admirer story line is wrapped up and she’s glad to see that it is in fact that super nerd Rick that she likes. She catches him red handed putting the rose on her locker and it seems like he’s about to die of embarrassment. He tells her while using a bunch of big words, which is annoying as hell by the way that she’s totally worth all the effort and gives her the rose. Seems like they’re a good match since they both have about zero social skills.

terri

In the counselors room the Asian chick is just staring at Ellie while Ellie is just sitting there like a wooden Indian. The time for the session is up and it seems like that’s all the both of them did the entire time, which was nothing. Ellie apologizes for being a huge weirdo but the counselor tells her that it’s ok and that her just being there is a huge first step. The episode ends with Ellie reluctantly saying that she’ll be there the next day for another session where nothing get’s accomplished.

ellie-end-credits

Eh, I’m going to say that this episode was just ok. I remember when this episode aired, it generated a lot of controversy because a lot of the kids who watched it started to cut themselves too. I guess Degrassi didn’t do a good enough job by pointing out that cutting is fucked up and seriously bad for you. As for the Terri story line Toby delivered again and that was that he was an annoying little toad who added nothing to the story. At least Terri has finally found a guy willing to date her.
